ABYSS COLLECTION
Canyons are formed by the process of long-term erosion from a plateau level. Then come the cliffs, remaining exposed on the valley walls. Ceren Gürkan is utterly enchanted by their majestic and mysterious look, and she created the Abyss series as a token of her admiration for them. These unique pieces are Ceren Gürkan's attempt at describing what she feels when standing on the rim of a canyon, on the edge of a rock, or in the wet darkness of a cave — staring into the abyss.
Big and small... Safe and in danger... Silent and loud...
In her work, Ceren wants to visualize hidden stories through organic structures that are formless and almost coincidental. Compared to other collections, its form is not easily recognizable to the eye. The series is formed in a meditative state accompanied by music and a silent mind, making Abyss an unique piece of art.
